OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE

1. Create proper awareness in various segments of society regarding the frightening consequences of global warming on environment and human life.

2.To bring on a common platform the collective wisdom and efforts scattered in different parts of the world in the realm of sustainable economic development, especially in the country, for getting over the impact of climate change and accelerating efforts towards achieving sustainable development.

3. To pool together the spiritual wisdom and search out the ways and means by which changes can be brought about in the life vision and life style of the people.

4. Voluntarily assuming the role of a Facilitator in nurturing and nourishing positive values and life style among people and in pooling and promoting alternative technologies and methods leading to the goal of sustainable development, Santhigiri Research Foundation proposes to tie up and cooperate with the national and international institutions and NGOs in the field so as to evolve and formulate policies and action programmes. It is in this context that the Research Foundation proposes to organize an International Conference on Global Warming, Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Secular Spirituality in September 2010 at Thiruvananthapuram.

The rationale behind the proposed Conference is that its theme spontaneously coincides with the spirit of Sustainable Development that lies behind all activities of the Ashram. The life mission of the Founder Guru, Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, has been to restore the lost harmony of man with Nature and the Supreme Light.
