
Situated at beautiful locations mostly in the high range branch ashrams, the Plantations not only yield cash crops such as coffee, cardamom etc. but also provide scenic and serene settings where the devotees and other visitors to Santhigiri Ashram can feel at one with Nature and the Creator.
Tea is grown on an area spread over 20 acres at Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad district. Rubber, coffee and pepper are also grown at this branch ashram land.
Rubber latex is tapped at Pothencode, Kallar and Kottayam ashrams.
A coconut plantation sways by the sea at the Kanyakumari branch ashram.
Pepper is grown at Pothencode, Kallar, Kumily and Kottayam while Cardamom is cultivated at Kumily and Kallar. Coffee beans are reared at Kallar and Kumily besides Sulthan Bathery.
Pulses and groundnuts are grown at the Madurai ashram.
The produce of the plantations is used mainly for in-house purposes and any surplus is disposed of outside.
